Since the pandemic, self-care and relaxation have never been more important.

Self-care is different for everyone and what makes you feel happy is something so unique.

It is important for us all to take care of ourselves though, and to implement something into our daily routine that serves us well.

Here are my 10 top tips, adapt them as you choose:

  1. Write three things every day that you feel grateful for
  2. Each day set aside 30 minutes to do what makes you smile. Even block this out in your diary to make sure you do it
  3. Stand in front of the mirror and say three things that you love about yourself or that you are proud of yourself for
  4. Breathe. In through your nose, out through your mouth. Two-four-eight. Breathe in for two, hold for four and breathe out for eight
  5. What is your purpose today? Set three intentions for the day ahead
  6. What fills your emotional cup? Try to weave it into your everyday routine
  7. Allow your mind to be still. Relax and unwind, play nature or spa music
  8. Take a bath or a shower, be present, allowing all of the water to wash away any negative energies
  9. Massage your hands as often as you can, paying particular attention to the circular pressure on your palms
  10. Create a jar, every time you feel like you want to do something that you cannot do right now, write it down and vow to do it when you can.

Positive affirmations

Unsure where to start with positive affirmations? Here are 12 affirmations that you can use daily.

Take what you need, leave the rest on the shelf. Say them in the mirror, write them on post-its around the house, have them in the staff room, write them in your diary, it really is unique to you!

  • I drink lots of water to cleanse my mind and body
  • I eat food that nourishes my body in the healthiest way I can
  • My thoughts are powerful, and I use them to manifest greatness in my life
  • I send kindness and positivity out into the universe
  • I have all power within
  • I am in control of my emotions
  • I let go of what no longer serves me to make way for the things that inspire me
  • I am grateful for my life
  • I am of value and I have a purpose in this world
  • I am kind to myself
  • In the infinity of life, where I am all is whole and complete. Everything is as it should be
  • I have unlimited potential.

Positive affirmations can change your mindset and when practised daily, can help to support your overall well-being. Practise. Practise. Practise. Another daily practise can be mirror work:

  • I am proud of myself for…
  • I forgive myself for…
  • I commit to myself that…
